Resident Evil 4 Sales Update!
|
|
Most people are talking about Resident Evil 5 these days. However, there is another game that keeps being
the gift that just keeps on giving. That game is Resident Evil 4. It seems said game continues to generate
profit for good old Capcom. Read below.
RE4 Wii Edition
Capcom's recent financial report has released the following data on the Wii version of RE4.
RE4: Wii Edition
has sold 1.500.000 units.
And according to NPD numbers, sales of RE4: Wii Edition in North America currently stand at: 759,000 units.
Biohazard 4 (Japan)
Famitsu reports that Biohazard 4 has finally been able to sell 1 million units in the land of the rising sun.
Just to offer some perspective, since the release of Biohazard 3 in September 1999, no other game from the series
has been able to reach the 1 million mark. Not until Bio4, that is.
The 1 million number was reached thanks to the combined sales of every version of Biohazard 4 that are available in
Japan. Below you can see a break down of how the 1 million figure was achieved:
Biohazard 4 (GameCube): 220,799
Biohazard 4 (PS2): 454,979
Biohazard 4 (PS2 - The Best): 196,471
Biohazard 4 (Wii Edition): 136,344
The total combined sales numbers for Bio4: 1,008,593 units.

First reviews of RE5 hit the web!
|
|
Resident Evil 5 is still in the final stages of development and yet some publications could not wait to offer their
final verdict of the game.
You'll find that the March issue of the Official PlayStation Magazine already has a complete review of RE5.
The editors of the magazine felt that they had played more than enough of the game to hand it a perfect score (5 out
of 5).
But not everyone feels that the game is close to being perfect or in a condition that would merit a full review.
IGN published recently an article
where they point out 5 things in RE5 that Capcom needs to fix and modify before it goes gold and hits the
shelves.
Then you have a podcast
from 1up.com. They decided to play it safe and reviewed the demo they were able to test-drive. In their opinion,
the control system employed in RE5 still needs some serious work.
In fact, what can be noticed about all the previous reviews/previews, is that the writers behind them all agree that the control
system is an element that can either make or break RE5.
On one side, you have publications like OPM praising the non traditional control setup options because they are
more accessible to those that are unfamiliar with the franchise.
While on the other side, you got some analysts who feel that Capcom didn't go far enough with the refinements. They
would like to see more changes (i.e. being able to shoot while moving).
And if you were to ask some of the die-hard fans of the franchise... well, they'll tell you that the game has gone in the wrong direction.
They pretty much dislike the new control setup modifications implemented in RE5. All designed to please the FPS-(casual)-gamer
types. However, it should be said not all fans feel that way.
The controversy surrounding the control system will probably continue to generate some heated debates in a forum or two. Yet
there is little doubt in the minds of most fans, that Resident Evil 5 will turn out to be one heck of a game.

4th Resident Evil movie on the way!
|
|
joblo.com has posted new developments surrounding the 4th entry in the live-action Resident Evil movie
franchise.
The horror section of Joblo offers the following news updates:
Paul Anderson wrote the screenplay but he is not coming back to direct.
The screenplay is more akin to RE2 in terms of style, but with better dialogue. The overall tone is also very dark.
There's enough hand to hand fights in the script for them to bring in a martial arts choreographer.
Patrick Tatopoulos (Resident Evil: Extinction) will be in charge of the creature effects and they will have a new Special FX supervisor (in terms of the the practical effects) - Michael Lantieri (Jurassic Park III)
The script is complete (they're at Draft 2)) and they're going to start casting before making any more script changes.
So far, they will be filming in Toronto and Tokyo. Toronto will actually front for Alaska.
They will be hiring a director once they have Milla officially signed back on.
|
Let's face it... as long as these movies continue to make money, Capcom and Sony will
in turn continue to make'em. End of story.
