NEWS: 08.05.08 Biohazard Degeneration Update!

The latest entry in the Biohazard Degeneration diary mentions that the movie is about to go through the English voice-over process. It seems that some animation details are still to be tweaked after this process is done.

The diary also mentions that they currently have 3 versions of the film. A version that is considered too long. Another version that needs some minor editing. And lastly, a version that is practically the finish product.

The direct to DVD/Blu-Ray film is scheduled for a release in the latter half of 2008...

The DVD that came with the latest edition of Weekly Famitsu and that included a new interview with RE5's director Jun Takeuchi, has been making headlines all over the net.

The problem was that there wasn't a complete translation of the entire interview. Well, that problem has been fixed and you can find the translated video around the web, for your viewing pleasure.

I've included the transcript of said interview as well as embedded videos of the same. You'll find them by using the link below:

According to rumors, next weeks edition of Japanese magazine Famitsu will include a DVD that features some new material related to future mega-hit: Resident Evil 5.

NEWS: 09.03.08 UC manga translated (site update)!

It's been a while since the Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles manga has been available on the web. However, on this site only the original Japanese version was available.

However, I decided to upload the translated (to English) UC manga based on the fact that some RE sites only included a link to a file that was stored either at megaupload or rapidshare. And those file sharing service sites won't have those files available for very long. Anywhoo, you'll now find those files on this very site.

Use the two links below to visit each section where the manga chapters are at:

NEWS: 04.03.08 The Umbrella Chronicles breaks the 1,000,000 mark!

A recent press release from Capcom shows that Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles has shipped 1,000,000 units, exceeding the company's sales projections for said game.

Originally, Capcom expected The Umbrella Chronicles to sell only 620,000 units until the end of the fiscal year. But UC managed to sell well beyond those numbers in less than 4 months (it sold 950,000 units in that time).

Here's a direct quote from Capcom's press release:

Capcom is pleased to announce that "Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles", which was released in November 2007 for the Wii® has shipped over 1 million units worldwide.

Now let's hope that Capcom gets the message that there is a great demand for the Resident Evil franchise on the Wii.

NEWS: 29.02.08 Resident Evil Zero is coming to the Wii!

Capcom has confirmed the "rumor" that first made headlines in the recent edition of Famitsu magazine. Said publication mentioned that Resident Evil 0 was in the works for the Wii.

However, the Wii version of Resident Evil 0 will be merely a port of the original game that came out for the GameCube. It will not be a remake. As far as we know, having compatibility with the Wiimote will be it's only new feature. It seems that Capcom is just trying to satisfy the demand for more Resident Evil on the Wii, with a wiiport of the 2002 prequel.

Despite the fact that the demand for RE games on the Wii originates mostly in Western countries, the game will be sold only in Japan. That puzzling decision has been confirmed by Capcom USA. They have ruled out the possibility of the game making it to the US and Europe, mainly due to the adverse reaction western gamers expressed to the news of yet another wiiport being produced by Capcom.

The Official site of the Wii version of RE0 has launched and includes some information and images from said version. If you want to take a look at the site, use the link seen below:

NEWS: 12.02.08 2008: the year of Resident Evil 5!

It's been a while since we heard anything about Resident Evil 5. Well, that's about to change during 2008!

Christian Svensson, Vice-President of Strategic Planning & Business Development at Capcom USA, has confirmed that this year they will released more info on Resident Evil 5 during their own media events and some of the industry's most important trade functions (E3, Liepzig, TGS, etc.).

Mr. Svensson also denied that there is a set date for the release of Resident Evil 5, considering that it is not yet known if said game will even be released this year.

In any case, this year is looking good for Resident Evil fans.

NEWS: 11.02.08 Ashley Graham in "We Love Golf!"... well, not exactly!

We Love Golf!, the new golf simulator by Capcom & Camelot, is about to enter the US and European markets exclusively for the Wii game console.

The team behind We Love Golf! is adding two new characters, and asking fans to pick their alternate Capcom inspired outfits.

Here's where the interesting part comes into play... as this page already reported, in We Love Golf! you can plays as Jill Valentine, one of the most famous Resident Evil lead characters.

Now, wouldn't it be something if yet another character from the famous survival-horror franchise also made it to that game? I think it would send a message to Capcom in regards that Wii owners are not only familiar with the Resident Evil brand name, but also want to see more of it on their console.

Alas, the alternate outfit we could vote for to be included in the game is Ashley Graham's. And she's one of those characters that you either love or hate.

Anywhoo, if you want to make your vote count, please use the link seen below (the polls are seen on the right of the site you'll be visiting).

Obviously, there will be a limited quantity available of this gun. Once it sells out, it will be gone for good.

NEWS: 07.02.08 The Umbrella Chronicles close to selling 1 millón copies!

It can be said, that this is great news for fans of the survival-horror franchise that are longing to play yet more Resident Evil games on their Wii game console. Well, sort of... read on.

Capcom has just made public that unit sales of the game Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles have reached 950,000. That's 50k short from selling a million copies. And 34% more than Capcom originally expected the game to sell within a year. Said company only expected The Umbrella Chronicles to sell 640,000 copies in a year.

Now, here's the interesting part... Capcom had mentioned that depending on how well Resident Evl 4: Wii Edition and Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles did on the Wii (in terms of sales), it would depend that more games from the franchise made it to Ninty's console.

Well, it's now a fact that both RE4: Wii Edition and The Umbrella Chronicles have broken with their respective sales expectations. So now we'll have to wait and see if Capcom can deliver on their part of the "bargain".

We fans y gamers already did our part, right?

NEWS: 04.02.08 Resident Evil creator working on new secret project

ign.com reported a few days ago that Resident Evil series creator/Director/Producer is currently trying to build a team in order to start full production on a new videogame project. The said game will be released under the Platinum Games label.

As some of you might already know, Mikami is no longer working at Capcom and is in fact now working for Platinum Games (formerly known as SEEDS, Inc.).

Mikami decided to stop working on further Resident Evil projects, leaving the door wide open for new and old talents to take a swing at the said franchise. We could see the results of that with Umbrella Chronicles, where a new director and producer decided to re-write the plotline and add new elements to the mix. Maybe that's a sign of things we can expect with Resident Evil 5, a project that is being developed without Mikami direct influence.

NEWS: 08.01.08 Leon Kennedy to be included in Smash Bros. Brawl? (UPDATED)

Well this one is sure a crazy rumor.

People who are keeping tabs on Paul Mercier's voice acting career have noticed something very strange... Or maybe not, considering where they found what they found.

According to the Internet Movie Database, voice actor Paul Mercier is credited not only for giving voice to Leon S. Kennedy in the last numeric Resident Evil game (RE4), but he is also credited for giving the voice to the same character in... *GULP!*... the next Super Smash videogame.

I dunno what to think about this, other than it's probably just nothing but a rumor (a mistake). I was thinking that Megaman would've been a better option for that game. But who knows. Maybe Leon acts like an Assist Trophy in the game and is not actually playable. However if this one is true, it will be interesting to find out how they will implement the character in the game. Will Leon fight using his 9mm hangun, knife or the mighty Rocket Launcher?

If you want to see where this whole rumor originated from, check the link below (Nintendo will probably have that info taken down, though):

**Paul Mercier's IMDb Resume

UPDATE! Yep, it was all a rumor... The complete list of secret characters to appear in Super Smash Bros. Brawl has been unvailed and Leon is *surprise-surprise* not included in it.

But there is hope for those who may want to see Mr. Kennedy this year on something new... Resident Evil Degeneration is coming to a DVD near you in mid-2008.
